For more than 10 years now, AixONU has organized a Model United Nations (MUN) every year. It consists of United Nations committee simulations where each participant represents a country and defends their interests on a certain issue for the duration of a week-end. Each delegate is invited to debate in English and to write resolutions in a committee setting, as a real UN representative would do.

Last year, AixMUN brought together a hundred students from Sciences Po, the University of Aix-Marseille, high schools but also from the Netherlands and other international students. Our society is more than happy to have the opportunity to organize this event this year and to allow young people from France and abroad to participate in this event.

The next conference will be held from the 31st of January to the 2nd of February 2020 in the city centre of Aix-en-Provence.

Friday will be dedicated to the opening ceremony, with the intervention of personalities from the world of diplomacy while the debates will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

The participants have this year the choice between two committees in English, with original topics.

The first, more specific committee will be the Human Rights Council (HRC). Delegates in this committee will debate on the issue of the Syrian Conflict.

The second is the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Delegates will debate on the issue of sustainable development as a mean to prevent climate change.

The third committee is the Special Political and Decolonization Commitee (SPECPOL). Delegates will debate on the issue of secessionist states.
